Associate Director - Electrical Engineering\n Location: Bolton\n Salary: Up to £75,000\n Job Ref: 39636\n\nA rare opportunity has arisen for an experienced Electrical Engineer ready to step into an Associate Director role within a well-established Building Services Consultancy. This position offers the chance to work in a client-focused environment with a long-standing, secure pipeline of projects across a diverse range of sectors.\n\nBased in Bolton, you will also attend design team meetings and site visits across Manchester, the wider North West and occasionally throughout the UK. The business operates across multiple offices and has built a strong reputation for delivering innovative, practical, and technically robust engineering solutions.\n\nThis role will see you leading electrical design delivery from feasibility through to RIBA Stage 5, working on a wide variety of projects including commercial developments, pharmaceutical facilities, residential schemes, leisure projects, and mixed-use developments.

The pharmaceutical work in particular offers exposure to complex technical environments such as laboratories alongside more traditional office and refurbishment projects.\n\nYou will work alongside a strong multi-disciplinary team, including mechanical counterparts and senior engineers, while also playing a key role in managing client relationships and contributing to the strategic direction of projects. It is particularly important that you are comfortable with being client facing and being involved in design team meetings.\n\nKey Responsibilities:\n\nLead electrical design projects from concept through to detailed design (RIBA Stage 4) and as built stages (Stage 5)\nChair and contribute to Design Team Meetings across multiple sites\nAct as a key client-facing representative, building and maintaining strong relationships\nProvide technical leadership and mentorship to junior and intermediate engineers\nOversee project resourcing, programme delivery, and commercial performance\nSupport tendering processes, fee proposals, and project estimation\nEnsure designs align with sustainability goals and carbon reduction targetsKey Requirements:\n\nStrong technical expertise in Electrical Building Services design\nProven experience delivering projects across sectors such as commercial, residential, or pharmaceutical\nAbility to lead projects and coordinate multidisciplinary teams\nExperience in client-facing roles and stakeholder management\nKnowledge of sustainable design principles and renewable technologies\nExperience with tendering, and resource planning\nAbility to work autonomously while contributing to a collaborative team environmentChartership is desirable but not essential; equivalent experience will be considered.
