The role supports complex programmes within sectors such as rail, energy, and large-scale M&E installations.\n\nKey Responsibilities\n\nLead and manage multidisciplinary design teams across multiple projects or major programmes.\nTake ownership of the full design lifecycle, from concept and feasibility through detailed design to construction support and handover.\nEnsure all design outputs meet relevant standards, including client, regulatory, and industry requirements.\nAct as the primary point of contact for all design-related matters with clients, consultants, subcontractors, and internal stakeholders.\nDevelop and manage design delivery programmes aligned with project schedules.\nOversee design reviews, approvals, and technical assurance processes.\nIdentify and manage design risks, implementing mitigation strategies where required.\nDrive value engineering and innovation to improve cost efficiency, safety, and constructability.\nEnsure effective integration and coordination across all engineering disciplines (M&E, civil, systems).\nSupport procurement processes by reviewing and approving supplier and subcontractor designs.\nLead design coordination meetings, workshops, and stakeholder reviews.\nMentor and develop design managers, engineers, and junior staff.\n\nKey Requirements\n\nDegree-qualified in Engineering (Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or related discipline).\nExtensive experience in design management within infrastructure, construction, or engineering environments.\nStrong background in delivering complex projects within sectors such as rail, energy, or utilities.\nDemonstrable experience managing multidisciplinary design teams.\nIn-depth knowledge of UK standards and design assurance processes (e.g., Network Rail, TfL, National Grid).\nExperience with digital engineering tools, including BIM and design coordination platforms.\nExcellent communication, leadership, and stakeholder management skills.\nStrong commercial awareness and understanding of project delivery constraints.\n\nKey Competencies\n\nStrategic leadership and decision-making\nTechnical excellence and attention to detail\nRisk management and problem-solving\nCollaboration and stakeholder engagement\nAbility to manage multiple complex workstreams\n\nDesirable\n\nChartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards it\nExperience in rail electrification, power systems, or large-scale M&E delivery\nFamiliarity with NEC contracts and project delivery frameworksPlease contact Dan Confrey at PSR Solutions for more information
